A couple more to cross off

I had an absolutely fun filled weekend this past weekend and with all we did I also get to cross off a couple more things from my list. Dennis and I headed out to the Ariozona wilderness and I got a fun opportunity to do some things I haven't in a very long time. We headed out first into the desert but ended up in the Pines. We have both been looking at this concept of Geocaching for some time. Dennis took his kids out last weekend in an attempt to find one of the local areas. They didn't have any luck. This weekend we headed out. Fully equiped to camp out and hike we were ready. Dennis has done tons of this, for me its been a long time. I did hit REI and picked up a weekend pack (top rated by Backpackers Magazine) and new hiking boots (comfy ones) and a box to make smores (the essentials you know!). The quads were packed and we headed out.

The results..... hiking is way more then I thought it would be. Of course he hit an area I probably shouldn't have tried for the first time out, since it was more of an intermediate/advanced type of hike in the terrain we were on. It was still fun, and while I had the fun of getting a down pour of rain even (ha ha) it was very pretty up on top.

So with a successful Geo find, we got ourselves deeper into the forest and spent the night under the stars (luckily it did stop raining). I had my smores and I can now cross off two more from the list. A camping trip and a hiking trip all in one :)

Oh yes and in the end I even had a lesson in patience while I chose to wait for the local "wild" life to cross the road :P

#19 Have a reunion

I think orginally I had bigger aspirations for doing this, but in the end I think the same goal was attained.

Last night I had a smaller reunion of all the remaining ladies in the area that use to get together for the small school and moms group I use to oversee. For years I led a life that had people coming and going out of my home and I never really gave much thought to it. My home was God's home so anyone and everyone was always invited. Four and a half years ago my life completely changed when my ex husband walked out on us.

In a way I almost barracaded myself from the world in the beginning. Slowly I was able to have small birthday parties for the kids, and have even had a couple here. Last night was a big deal when 10 women stepped into my home. They felt at home still, but questioned themselves as they let themselves easily into my home as if it were 4 years ago. It felt good, it was a challenge, more then I realized it would be for me ;)

This weekend I may even get to cross yet another off the list..... crosses her fingers :)

See and photograph the Grand Canyon

Last weekend the kids and I headed out to Arizona. It was differerent weekend for a variety of reasons, but in the midst of it we got to see the Grand Canyon. Andrew ended up with the stomach flu and had to stay in the hotel and Dennis and I took the three girls up on the train into the canyon.

On the drive back I was able to snap a few photos of the sun setting around Mormon Lake. Making that another sunset shot to my collection.

Quick Updates

Today I finished reading Angela Thomas's book "A Beautiful Offering" I even took the time out to write the author because this book has been such a huge comfort to me. Hard to believe there are others out there who have walked the same road I do, or is it more like I don't want to really believe there are. Anyway this book reassured the reader that Jesus also knows we are not perfect, but that we are made perfect when we surrender ourselves to Him. She walks you through the Surmon on the Mount in real ways that was very helpful and encouraging.

Last weekend after playing on my quad was able to take a few pictures of the sunset off of Copper Mountain. It wasn't with my better camera but the little 6 MP which still did a good job of capturing the sunset.

96 I was able to cross off this past week after picking up a new printer and getting it up and running. The next part was to incorporate it into the home network and there you have it I have successfully made all the computers in the house capable of printing :).

Im working on getting a couple more crossed off. A trip to the Grand Canyon is a possiblity and I have a reunion tentatively planned later this month :)
